POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the preparation of grant proposals and funding applications to government agencies and private foundations, and assists Grant Services Manager in grant resources planning and capacity development for tribal programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
(Consideration may be given to applicants with an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)

Minimum Qualifications

• Three years of grant writing experience
• Proven organizational and time management skills
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel when required for research and training
• Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• BA degree in English or related field
• Grant writing experience for a tribal entity
• Experience in organizational development and strategic planning

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Thoroughly read funding opportunity announcements and develop a complete understanding of the grant application requirements
• Clearly communicate proposal guidelines to the individuals involved in the grant application process
• Attend and participate in the grant application development team meetings
• Research, select, and organize data for use in grant applications
• Work closely with staff to transform their vision and ideas into funding proposals
• Write each proposal in the style, composition and format that will be most effective in reaching the target audience.
• Complete proposals in a timely manner to allow sufficient time for proofing and quality review
• Assist Grant Services Manager with developing a long-term funding strategy and sustainability plan for tribal programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned
