Job Summary

The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the inventory of supplies for the Dena'ina Wellness Center. Duties include loading, and unloading of trucks, wrapping products, packing, labeling, shipping, and receiving. Also assists the maintenance technician by Performing skilled craft construction, operation, maintenance, and repair, work in facility disciplines such as painting, HVAC, boiler plant, mechanical equipment, grounds keeping, plumbing, and carpentry. May perform work in more than one craft discipline as personal skill permits, and workload requires.

Essential Functions

  • Loading and unloading of goods and ensuring proper handling of the same.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and proper stocking of the inventory in the work area.
  • Maintaining quality in the warehouse, keep track of all damaged inventory and reporting it to the supervisor.
  • Proper packing, labeling, and tagging of the inventory in the warehouse.
  • Conducting cycle counts of inventory and managing daily logs.
  • Responsible for loading, and unloading of trucks, wrapping products, packing, labeling, shipping, and receiving.
  • Move waste packaging from assembly area to dumpsters.
  • Clean and maintain work area.
  • Performs skilled and semi skilled maintenance activities including performing basic trade activities such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry work, and general grounds keeping duties.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs heating, cooling and room pressurization problems.
  • Installs and maintains all mechanical equipment as necessary.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on all facility systems.
  • Identifies researches and repairs mechanical problems.
  • Should be familiar with all MSDS related to the facility.
  • Inspects services and maintains operational functionality of doors, windows, locks, security accesses, and fire alarm triggered devices.
  • Performs maintenance of locks, keypads, electronic security systems, including elevator access control systems.
  • Monitors systems including building environmental control, energy management, security, and fire protection/detection systems.
  • Responds to service calls or work requests from all areas of the facility relating to the repair and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, air handling, and lighting systems corrects problems or refers to another department.
  • Follows safety precautions and procedures in performance of job duties.
  • Orders supplies and materials related to projects and coordinate and schedules contractors and other maintenance workers.
  • Paints walls, doors, door casings, trims, ceilings, stairs, floors, equipment and other projects.
  • Responsible for snow removal at the sidewalk entering the building.
  • Ability to perform heavy work kneels, crouch, and use power tools or other kinds needed for maintenance.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of Tribal events.
  • Valid driver's license and remain insurable under KIT insurance policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Lifting Requirements

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and /or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.


Additional Requirements

May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations. This position requires frequent exposure to hazardous work environments and working with high voltage, hazardous machinery, equipment and materials.


Minimum Physical Requirements

The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, climb ladders, and crawl. Need full mobility of all limbs able to navigate and work in tight/enclosed areas. Must not be claustrophobic (fear of being closed in small spaces or rooms),    acrophobic (extreme or irrational fear of heights). Must not be colorblind. This position requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in cramped spaces.

Equipment and Tools

List Equipment used for job:   Snow blower, shovel, Computer, assorted power tools, saws, drill, sander, grinders, etc.

List Tools:   MSDS, Assorted hand tools and wrenches for mechanical and plumbing repair. Assorted carpentry hand tools that prepares walls and surfaces for painting , patches, sanding and priming of walls and surfaces. Mixes and applies paint, lacquer, primer, sealer, stain, epoxy, and acrylic to necessary shade.  

Drives KIT or Personal Vehicle:   Occasionally to pick up minor supplies.  







  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.


  • Previous experience in inventory control, bookkeeping or store management.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of how to read an MSDS document.
  • Knowledge of operating, troubleshooting and maintaining building and grounds equipment.
  • Knowledge of transporting and disposing items of varying compounds, textures or quantities.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions when operating motorized vehicles, equipment and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of basic shop arithmetic.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian People.


  • Valid Alaska Drivers License with non-SR22 insurance.

Special Skills

  • Inventory control.
  • Basic trade activities such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry work, and general grounds keeping.
  • Excellent communications both verbal and written for documenting written reports.
  • Troubleshooting basic maintenance problems, and determining solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate logs and basic written records of work performed.
  • Skill in operating motorized vehicles, equipment and hand tools.
  • Skill in reading and evaluating blueprints, and other technical schematics.
  • Skill in using analytical and research ability to define and solve problems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
