Registration Technician I

Job Summary

The Registration Technician I is a member of the Registration Desk Team and is responsible for the collection, verification, and entry for all patient (un'ina) demographic and insurance information.  The Registration Technician I will rotate between the Registration Desk and the Call Center within the Dena'ina Wellness Center (DWC).  The accurate and timely performance of job duties of the Registration Technicians directly impacts the revenue received by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe.  

Essential Functions

Registration Desk Duties

  • Greets all un'ina, co-workers with a smile- provides exceptional customer service with each interaction.
  • Responsible for un'ina registration, ensuring accurate capture and data entry of all un'ina updated demographic and insurance information.
  • Ensures capture of all charges for services provided at the (DWC).
  • Operates credit card machine and cash drawer.
  • Schedule optometry, checks in Behavioral Health un'ina using EVOLV.
  • Scans ID, CIB, and insurance cards into electronic registration package.
  • Hands out referral forms, intake packets, educational materials, as needed.
  • Verification of insurance.
  • Monitors waiting room behaviors; notify Safety & Security of disruptive un'ina.
  • Register all new un'ina for services at DWC.

Call Center Duties

  • Answer multi-line and high volume phones.
  • Distribute mail to DWC staff.
  • Route calls to appropriate individual or department.
  • Scheduling of labs, immunizations and Nurse Clinic.
  • Ensure accurate verification of insurance and data entry into electronic registration package.
  • Works closely with Family Health Resources and Finance Verification of insurance.
  • Monitor waiting room behaviors; notify Safety & Security of disruptive un'ina.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintains documents for Front Desk files.

  • High School Diploma or GED.


  • One year experience in a scheduling or registration function preferred.
  • Experience in insurance verification and charge collections preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 preferred.


  • Valid Alaska Driver License or Memorandum of Understanding.
